Communication: practice your conversation skills

Conversation

bluearrow Morning Conversation

Our 60-hour morning conversation courses provide students with the opportunity to practice and develop their conversational skills within a structured course but without the pressure of exam preparation or a strict grammatical syllabus. Students have the option of reading short texts as preparation for the class discussion and the teacher will provide exercises and practice on language difficulties, especially concerning pronunciation. The main focus of the courses, however, is conversation and the development of oral fluency.

4 levels: Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate, Advanced

Length: 30 week courses of 60 hours
Start : October 2008
bluearrow Business English Conversation

The course is an opportunity for students to develop their conversational and communicative skills in a business context. Students will be able to develop their business vocabulary while practising situations and dialogues. Some of the topics and activities covered are:
- Telephoning
- Receiving visitors
- E-mail
- Negotiating
- Meetings
- Presentations
- Socializing and “small talk”
- Cultural differences
- Travel English
- Role play
Length: 30 week courses of 60 hours

Start: October 2008
bluearrow High Intermediate Conversation

The course is designed for high-intermediate-level students (level 5 and above) who wish to develop their conversational and general linguistic skills by participating in class discussions in English. There are optional weekly reading tasks in preparation for each lesson but no formal homework or testing. The conversations are related to current affairs, culture and personal expression in general. Although the focus is on development of conversational, colloquial English, a part of each lesson is usually dedicated to any linguistic difficulties which may arise.

Length: 30 week courses of 60 hours

Start: October 2008
bluearrow Advanced Conversation

The advanced conversation course is an opportunity for advanced-level students (level 7 and above) to practise and develop their conversation skills while broadening their knowledge of literature in English and other aspects of British culture.

Have you reached an advanced level in English (studied for CAE or CPE or similar or higher)? Would you like to improve your English without preparing for an examination?

Would you like to practise and maintain your conversational skills by discussing a range of contemporary issues and events in the news (the ‘credit crunch’, the US election campaign, Europe, the multi-racial society, cultural differences and clashes, etc.)?

Would you like to expand your lexical and idiomatic knowledge of advanced English by reading short articles and extracts at home and then discussing them?

If the answer  is ‘Yes’, this is the course for you!

Length: 36 ore (November 2008 – May 2009)
Time: Mondays  7.45.- 9.15 PM
